Campaign Unavailable We're sorry, this alert is no longer available. If you would like to learn more about ways you can take action, please visit SEIU Local 1877.The short explanation of this alert was: The Contract has expired for hundreds of janitors servicing the buildings owned by Aerospace and Defense industry leaders like Boeing, Northrop Grumman and Raytheon. These janitors bring home just $1500 a month, $8.35 per hour, and have no family healthcare coverage. In an industry seeing billions of dollars in profits, hard working, low wage janitors deserve their fair share, and are now fighting for their livelihoods. At the same time janitors have been fighting for a better contract, they have been facing intimidation in the workplace from their supervisors and last Thursday authorized a strike. These janitors work too hard to be treated unfairly, and should be paid living wages comparable to industry standards with family healthcare. Big Defense and Aerospace contractors have an opportunity and responsibility to ensure a fair wage and family healthcare for these janitors that ensure that their companies are ready for business every day. During the first half of this year reported profits for the leaders in Aerospace were: Boeing- $2.1 billion, Northrop Grumman- $759 million, and Raytheon-$824 million. With these huge profits, no worker in the Aerospace industry should be living in poverty. Janitors need your help in asking the CEOs of these companies to ensure that the rights of these workers is respected, and to commit to ensuring that janitors are provided decent wages with access to family healthcare. SEND A FAX TO THESE COMPANIES TO EXPRESS YOUR SUPPORT FOR THE JANITORS TODAY!
