Campaign Unavailable

We're sorry, this alert is no longer available.

The short explanation of this alert was:

As nurses, we already know that when hospitals use mandatory overtime as a regular way to staff their facilities, patients are put at risk. Yet instead of hiring enough nurses to meet patients’ needs, many understaffed hospitals are continuing to order nurses to work back-to-back eight-hour shifts or four extra hours on top of a 12-hour shift.

That’s why it’s so important that nurses send a message to Congress to support the newly reintroduced Safe Nursing and Patient Care Act of 2005 which would prevent medical errors and improve patient care by limiting mandatory overtime in the nation's hospitals.

Now more than ever, it’s time to tell Congress to protect patients and ban the unsafe practice of mandatory overtime.
