ACT FOR A HEALTHY MASSACHUSETTS

Thanks to the many calls and emails made by SEIU 888 members, the Act for a Healthy Massachusetts (SB 2481, Formerly HB783/SB558), which reduces toxic chemicals in workplaces and communities across the Commonwealth, was passed unanimously by the State Senate this week.

Spearheaded by the Alliance for a Healthy Tomorrow, a broad coalition of health, labor, and faith-based organizations, The Act for a Healthy Massachusetts builds upon the state's highly effective Toxics Use Reduction program, establishing a pragmatic program to replace toxic chemicals with safer alternatives.

We expect the chemical industry lobby to continue to fight the legislation as it moves now to the House of Representatives for consideration. Please use this page to email your State Representative to urge their support for the Safer Alternatives Bill.
