The short explanation of this alert was:

With the eyes of the entire state on creating a strong foundation so all Massachusetts children can succeed, the time is right for decision-makers to invest in the family child care that so many working parents depend on.

Please take action and to write to your legislators on Beacon Hill to support Senate Bill 2286. This bill would allow providers to form a union. Passage of Senate Bill 2286 will improve the quality of care and education for our children by:

  • Improving retention, training, professional development and quality standards for Family Child Care Providers;
  • Stabilizing the family child card workforce, thus providing Massachusetts’ working families with consistent access to affordable, quality child care; and
  • Giving family child care providers a voice in improving the early education and care system in Massachusetts – something that providers have never had.
