The short explanation of this alert was:

After years of writing letters, making phone calls and visiting your legislators, the PA General Assembly passed our bill against mandatory overtime and the Governor signed the bill into law on October 9th. With the exception of 11 Representatives, all of our legislators voted for the bill.

The new law goes into effect on July 1st, 2009 and will make it illegal for health care facilities to force any health care worker providing direct patient care to work overtime, except in the case of an emergency. This is a great step forward to improving working conditions for health care workers and the care we provide our patients.

Send the letter below to your legislator to thank them for voting to end mandatory overtime in Pennsylvania.
