Campaign Unavailable We're sorry, this alert is no longer available. If you would like to learn more about ways you can take action, please visit SEIU Local 1877.The short explanation of this alert was: Is it any wonder that 10,000 Bay Area janitors must share housing with multiple families? On $347 a week, the janitors who clean the Silicon Valley and Bay Area's corporate office buildings and Stanford University must go without. They are without health care, waiting as long as two and a half years to get family health care, instead relying on home remedies and visits to the emergency room. They cannot afford a decent place to live, and many face the threat of losing their housing. The Bay Area's future depends on families finding their way out of poverty and into the middle class. The rise in poorly paid jobs with inadequate benefits over the last decade has done nothing to alleviate poverty in the region, but has in fact placed the Bay Area's economic future at risk. Now, Bay Area janitors need your help. They are on STRIKE because the cleaning contractors they work for have unleashed a campaign to intimidate and frighten workers who want a better life.
